The Convention Industry Apprenticeship Program is a two-year/2000-hour program. The apprentices perform a wide variety tasks including forklift operation, condor operation, installation and dismantle of convention booths, as well as many other duties. The starting wage is currently 60% of Journeyman salary per hour.
The Convention Industry offers many opportunities in the Las Vegas Valley, as the convention industry continues to grow. There are jobs in freight, I & D, foreman positions as well as many other opportunities available.
1. Age 18 years of age.
2. Education High School Diploma or G.E.D. or H.S.E.
3. Comprehension Comprehend, read and write the English language.
In the convention industry, Journeyman are involved with all aspects of setting up the various trade shows and conventions. They are responsible for bring in all freight, building all the booths, laying carpet, rigging, etc. The Teamsters Local 631 Apprenticeship Program teaches apprentices to work in all aspects of the convention industry.
